Eastbrook Outruns Madison-Grant
October 12th 2007 -
Eastbrook finished off the CIC undefeated with a 45-20 win over Madison-Grant.  The question coming into the game was could Eastbrook slow down the powerful rushing attack of the Argylls.

Eastbrook's running game was the star of the show.  Blake Barajas and Quintyn Tuterow both rushed for over 100 yards on their senior night.  Backfield mate Marc Miller stole the show with several dazzlings runs.  Miller only posted 82 yards on the ground but it was the way he got them that made his night special.  Miller would score 4 touchdowns on the night.  Three would come on the ground in the first half and the fourth would come on an 80-yard kick off return to start the second half.

The game was back and forth in the first half.  Eastbrook's defense would start the game with a three and out giving the Panther offense good field position on it's first drive.  Five plays later Miller would take it in from 32-yards and a 7-0 lead.

Madison-Grant would come right back.  On their next possession chewing up 80 yards in 14 plays.  The Panthers almost caught a break at the end when the ball would be fumbled into the endzone.  Wade Gilman of Madison-Grant would recover the ball for the touchdown.  The missed extra point made the score 7-6.

Eastbrook would come right back with it's second drive.  Miller would score again this time from 3-yards out and a 14-6 score.

Madison-Grant would respond again.  This time in quickly.  Andrew Stroup would connect with Brian Mahoney for a 79-yard yard strike.  A two point conversion would even the score at 14-14.

Eastbrook would seize the momentum right before the half.  Miller would score his third touchdown of the half on a 15 yard run and a 21-14 lead.

The Panthers would put the game away quickly in the third quarter.  Miller would run the opening kickoff back to get things started.  After a quick three and out Barajas would put his first score on the baord and a 35-14 lead.

Barajas would cap a great night with his second touchdown on the next drive putting the Panthers up 42-14.  The drive was highlighted by a long run from Tuterow who did not quite have enough to finish it on his own.

Phil Wood finished his fine night of kicking with a 31 yard field goal in the fourth.

This was a fine night for the seniors.  They finished two of their goals by winning the conference and Grant 4 title.  Next up is sectional with a trip to West Lafayette.
