Panthers move on
October 20th 2006 -
It has been a sectional tradition four years running. Eastbrook has played at Bluffton four years straight. Eastbrook also stuck with the tradition of take the Tigers out of the tournament. This time by a score of 35-14.

Eastbrook jumped on the Tigers early by taking a 21-0 first quarter lead. The Panthers would take advantage of an early fumble by the Tigers. Blake Barajas put Eastbrook up 7-0 on a 22 yard pass play from Nathan Felver.

The Panthers would force another turnover on the next Tiger possession. Three plays later Felver would connect with Marc Miller on a 77 yard touchdown pass to make the score 14-0.

Three plays later the Panthers would take advantage of a special teams miscue. Bluffton would snap the ball over the head of the punter giving the Panthers great field position. Miller would finish off the drive with a 2 yard run making the score 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Eastbrook would give up a touchdown just before the half to make the score 21-7.
Eastbrook would open the second half receiving the kickoff. Miller would continue his outstanding night by returning the kick 76 yards for the score.

Bluffton would respond later in the third quarter on a Cochran to Ballinger scoring pass to make the score 28-14.

That would be all the closer the Tigers would get. Miller would add a 64 yard run to close out the scoring at 35-14.

Defensively the Panthers struggled a little in this game giving up a lot of yards. They would come up with some big turnovers that would keep the Tigers from scoring more points. Eastbrook forced 5 turnovers all together. Three were on interceptions. George Kigren had one and Miller had two spectacular interceptions to stop drives.

Eastbrook was led defensively this week by Dallas Street who turned in 12 tackles and Dereck Case who had 9 tackles.

Eastbrook moves on to round two of the playoffs by hosting Madison-Grant. Game time will be 7:00
