Panthers Hold On
September 14th 2007 -

Eastbrook claimed first place in the CIC by itself with a 26-20 victory over Frankton.  That win and the Madison-Grant loss put the Panthers alone at the top of the CIC.  They also ended a two year losing streak to Frankton.

Eastbrook got on the board first in a tight game.  Marc Miller intercepted a pass early in the first quarter giving the Panthers great field position.  Miller would finish the drive two plays later for a 6-0 lead.

Frankton would come right back scoring on a 52-yard bomb Cress to Breckenridge.  The extra point would give Frankton its only lead of the night 7-6.

Eastbrook would bounce back near the end of the first quarter when Miller would race 93-yards for another touchdown.  Nathan Felver would hit Quintyn Tuterow for the conversion and make the score 14-7.

Eastbrook would find its way to the endzone again mid way through the second quarter.  Tuterow would punch it in from 2 yards out and make the score 20-7.

Frankton narrowed the gap on 23-yard screen pass before the half to make the halftime score 20-13.

The defenses would take over in the second half holding each other scoreless in the third period.

Early in the fourth quarter Tuterow would put the Panthers up two scores with another 2-yard run making the score 26-20.

Frankton would make a furious comeback midway through the fourth quarter.  Cress would throw his third touchdown of the game to make the score 26-20.

The Panthers would field the onside kick only to give the ball back 3 plays later.

Frankton would have its drive ended five plays later when a host of Panthers sacked the Cress and forced a fumble.

The offense would run the clock out from there giving the Panthers a 3-0 start to the CIC season.

Eastbrook will play at home next against Alexandria for its Homecoming game.
