November 5th 2004 - Bulffton--History was made Friday night with Eastbrook's 35-10 victory over Bluffton. This is the first time in school history that a team has won four consecutive sectional titles.
The win did not come easy for the Panthers. Playing a passing team was not something the Panthers were accustom to. Bluffton got off to a great start taking the opening drive and marching right down the field to go up 7-0. A few plays later and the score would be 10-0. Bluffton would accumulate more than 120 yards in the first quarter.
With the offense struggling to connect the defense would make a big play. Nathan Seaman would snag an interception and return it to the 6 yardline. Jason Poe would take it in making the score 10-7 at the half.
The opening drive of the second half was exactly what Eastbrook wanted. Taking up almost 6:00 minutes of the 3rd quarter with a touchdown from Jed Puckett.
On the next possession Josh Smoot would recover a fumble on the 4 yard line. Jed Puckett would take the ball in making the score 21-10.
Eastbrook's defense would help again. Kyle Lassiter would recover a fumble at the 47 yard line. Brad Atkins raced 44 yards with the ball to set up Jed Puckett's final touchdown.
Eastbrook's final score would come from Kyle Kirkpatrick on a 16 yard carry making the score 35-10.
The victory sets up a meeting between Eastbrook and Heritage. Both teams are undefeated at 12-0. The game is at Eastbrook starting at 7:30. |
