Panthers pass by Bruins
September 29th 2006 -

Eastbrook defeated Blackford 18-9 doing things a little differently this week.  Blackford set its defense to stop the Panther rushing attack leaving some big holes in the secondary.  The Panthers were able to take advantage of those holes posting some solid numbers passing.

The Panthers started the game off holding Blackford and forcing a punt.  The Panthers would be in a generous mood and give the ball back to Blackford off a fumble in good field position.  Blackford would take the ball inside the 10-yardline before the Panthers would make thier stand.

Eastbrook would take the ball back on thier own 1-yardline.  Two plays later Blackford would take the lead sacking Felver in the endzone for a safety.

Eastbrook would finally get on the board in the beginning of the 2nd quarter.  A 7 play 72-yard drive would end with a 23-yard scoring toss Nathan Felver to Cody Younce.  Quintyn Tuterow would add the two-point conversion and the Panthers led 8-2.

Eastbrook's defense would dominate the rest of the second half.  The Panther offense would not be able to take advantage until the end of the second quarter.  Phil Wood would kick a 25-yard field goal to make the score 11-2 at the half.

Eastbrook would start the second half with the ball and promptly turn it over to Blackford.  Three plays later Jordan Nickols would find Mark Begley for a 21-yard scoring strike making the score 11-7.

Eastbrook would answer on its next drive.  Felver would cap the 69-yard drive hitting Quintyn Tuterow from 20-yards out for the touchdown and an 18-9 score.

That is how it would finish.  The Panther defense would finish the game off.  Clay Jones would lead the defensive effort with 10 tackles, 4 for lost yardage and a sack.  Kevin Fenstermaker would be right behind with 9 tackles.

The Panthers will have their final regular season home game next week against Elwood.
