Eastbrook halts Argyles ground attack
October 13th 2006 -

It has been a process building over the last four weeks.  Many people stuck a fork in the Panthers four weeks ago after losing their second game in a row.  The team and coaching staff circled up the wagons and got back to work.  The result has been building for four weeks.  Those in attendance on Friday the 13th saw what the Panthers have been working so hard to achieve in a 42-7 win over Madison-Grant.

Eastbrook took care of the game in all phases Friday night but the defense may have taken the show.  The Panther defense has played well the entire season.  The last two weeks they have taken it to a different level.  The hitting has increased in intensity with the challenge of two high powered offenses facing them.

Eastbrook held Madison-Grants tough running game to just under 80 yards for the evening.  That is extremely impressive after Madison-Grant put up more than 100 points the two previous weeks.  The Panther defense made it easier on the offense by setting them in good field position most of the night.

Offensively the Panthers jumped on the board first.  Quintyn Tuterow would finish the first drive on a 2-yard run to put the Panthers on top 6-0.

Madison-Grant would respond on their 3rd drive.  The Argyles would take advantage of an Eastbrook turnover.  Derek Gunning would score on a short run to make the score 7-6 Madison-Grant.

That would be all the Argyles would get.  Eastbrook would go on to score 3 more time in the second quarter.  Blake Barajas and Nathan Felver would add rushing touchdowns and Felver would hit Tuterow on a pass play for the last score of the first half and a 28-7 lead.

The Panthers came out with the same intensity in the second half.  Tuterow would add his third touchdown of the game and Marc Miller would score to make the final 42-7.

The defense turned in a very balanced effort.  Many people turned in great games.  Kevin Fenstermaker led the way with 8 tackles followed by Olie Wood with 7.

It has been a building process through the season.  The Panthers look to be playing their best football at the right time as they look to defend their sectional title and go for 6 in a row.
