August 28th 2004 - Mier—It took 16 hours to complete but the end result was well worth the wait. After the storms passed Friday night Eastbrook defeated Oak Hill 21-7.
The Panthers got off to a quick start. On the third play of the game Zach Tuterow hit Levi Williams for a 74-yard touchdown pass making the score 6-0. The Eastbrook defense held and forced a punt, which was returned deep into Oak Hill territory. Oak Hill came up with the big play stopping Eastbrook short on fourth down.
The second quarter saw Oak Hill take advantage of good field position. The Golden Eagles took the lead on a 10-yard touchdown pass. The point after made it 7-6.
The second half was short-lived. Two plays in the game was stopped due to lightening.
The next morning turned out to be much like the night before. The rain was gone but the heat and humidity stayed. After trading possessions Eastbrook took the lead for good early in the fourth quarter. Brad Atkins went 51-yards around the end for a touchdown. A two-point conversion Tuterow to Williams made the score 14-7.
Oak Hill did not give up. The Golden Eagles took the next possession down to the Eastbrook 24-yard line before Atkins would knock down a fourth down pass in the endzone.
Eastbrook would take possession and go on a long drive capped by a Kyle Kirkpatrick 25-yard touchdown run making the score 21-7.
The victory moved the Panthers to 2-0 on the season. Next up is county rival Madison-Grant.
