Eastbrook Brings Home The Can
September 3rd 2004 - Fairmount-- The 2A third ranked Eastbrook Panthers defeated Madison-Grant 21-19. In doing so the Panthers claimed the conferences traveling "milk can".

The battle between the two Grant county foes looked to be a romp early. Eastbrook went up 13-0 in the first quarter on a 15-yard touchdown run by Zach Tuterow and a 2-yard run by Jason Poe.

With a chance to put the game away early the Madison-Grant defense made a stand. Forcing the first of three turnovers. The Argylls turned one of the turnovers into a touchdown making the score 13-7. Just before the half the Argylls had a chance to take the lead but the Panthers forced a field goal attempt before the half which came up just short.

The second half would see a little more of the same. Eastbrook went up 21-7 on a Brad Atkins 3-yard run and a Kyle Kirkpatrick 2-point conversion. The conversion turned out to be the game winner.

Turnovers prevented Eastbrook from putting the game away again. Madison-Grant took advantage scoring the last two touchdowns of the game. Special teams would decide the winner. Eastbrook would block the first extra point and Atkins would step in front of a pass to prevent the 2 point conversion to tie the game.

The win set up a big game this week. The Panthers will travel to Mississnewa to play the unbeaten Indians. The game will be a big game towards deciding the conference championship.
