Eastbrook gets back on track
September 23rd 2005 -

The Eastbrook Football team had lost its first game in over two years and they were angry. Those who witnessed the onslaught left wondering how a team could be so dominate. The answer is simple, the Panthers came to play.

With Frankton losing last Friday and Madison-Grant, Eastbrook, and Elwood all winning, a three-way tie was in effect for the CIC championship. Elwood will face Madison-Grant next week; the winner will likely be in a tie with Eastbrook for the top ranking. With only 2 games to go, who will come out on top?

Courtesy of the Chronicle-Tribune:

Eastbrook (6-1, 4-1 CIC) used 11 different rushers to gain 279 yards, while holding the Tigers (1-6, 1-4 CIC) to just 93 yards. But the Panthers' special teams play made the biggest impression. Eastbrook scored three touchdowns on special teams plays, including a 27-yard Dallas Street punt block return, an 85-yard Jason Poe kickoff return and a 66-yard Derek Herring punt return. Levi Williams converted on all eight of his extra-point attempts, and Blake Barajas added a safety to open the scoring, just 1:22 into the game, when he recovered an errant Alexandria snap.

That was the tone all night long as the physical Eastbrook team dismantled the Alexandria Tigers. The line blocked well all night long and opened holes one could drive a semi-truck though.....literally.

The Panthers look to defeat Blackford next week and remain at the top of the CIC. The Panthers play at Blackford next week.
