Panthers take down Bruins

September 28th 2007 - Class 3A No 7 Eastbrook moved to 6-1 and 5-0 in the CIC with a 43-6 win at Blackford. The story of the first half was outstanding special teams and defense. Eastbrook kicker Phil Wood placed his first four kicks in the endzone forcing Blackford to start at thier own 20 yard-line. The Panther defense would take over from there giving the ball back to the offense in great field position.
Eastbrook's offense would score 4 out of their first 5 possessions putting the game away early. Blake Barajas would put the Panther's on the board less than 2:00 into the game on a 3 yard run. Quintyn Tuterow would score the next touchdown from 2 yards out. Barajas would cap the first quarter off with his second score, this time from 4 yards out making the score 20-0 at the end of one.
Eastbrook's next possession would result in a punt that would pin Blackford inside its 5 yardline. Marc Miller shot through the line on the first play recording the safety for the Panthers.
Barajas would cap off a stellar night on the next drive taking a short pass from Nathan Felver 44 yards for his third touchdown of the evening and a 29-0 halftime lead.
Felver would finish off his perfect evening in the third quarter finding Miller for a 34 yard strike and a touchdown.
The rest of the night would belong to the second stringers. Jeremy Porter-Jones would cap the night with a dazzling 28 yard touchdown run.
Blackford would get their score late in the 4th quarter making the final score 43-6.
The win and losses suffered by other conference teams assures the Panthers a share of the conference title.
Eastbrook will play their next game at Elwood at 7:00.
