August 24th 2007 - The storms came and went on Friday evening delaying the game until Saturday. On Saturday Eastbrook lost the goal of an undefeated season 7-6 to Western.
Eastbrook got off to a good start in the game. Eastbrook would force a fumble and intercept a pass on Western’s first two possessions. The unfortunate thing was Eastbrook returned the favor by fumbling the ball back on their first two possessions.
Eastbrook would make a critical mistake on special teams at the start of the 2nd quarter. Setting Western up at the 2 yard line. Western would capitalize on the mistake scoring their only touchdown of the game on a two yard sneak by quarterback Mikel Hartman. The extra point would make it 7-0.
Eastbrook would come right back on its next possession. Mark Miller would take the first handoff and race 80 yards for the score. The extra point was no good making the score 7-6 at the half.
The second half would be a dominating effort from the Eastbrook defense. Special teams mistakes and fumbles would keep the Panther offense from taking advantage of this great defensive effort leaving the final score 7-6.
This game was all about mistakes. Statistically Eastbrook dominated the game. In the end the Panthers would not be able to overcome the 6 lost fumbles.
The Panthers record now stands at 1-1. They play county rival Mississinewa next.
