Panthers Rally
October 19th 2007 -
The first half did not look good for the Panthers in first round sectional play.  Lucky for them there was a second half that saw them outscore the Red Devils 21-7.

The first half was not a stellar half of offense or special teams for the Panthers.  If not for a good effort from the defense the game may have been out of reach.  The Panther defense held the explosive Red Devil offense out of the endzone the first half.  The big play of the first half came on a fake punt that saw the Panthers miss several tackles before giving up a touchdown to the punter.

The first half saw the Panthers squander many oppurtunities with good field position. The opening drive saw the Panther defense pushed the Red Devils back 10-yards.  A shanked punt would give the ball to the Panthers on the Red Devil 30-yard line.  The Panthers would do nothing with it.  The first half would see the Panthers recover two fumbles as well in good field position.  The offense would do nothing with them leaving the halftime score 7-0.

Halftime brought some adjustments and a couple of challenges from the coaches.  The first drive showed that.  The Panthers took possession of the opening kickoff at the 21-yardline.  Eastbrook would grind out a 13 play drive capped by a 21-yard run from Quityn Tuterow to tie the score at 7-7.  You could see "Big Mo" was changing sides

West Lafayette would giving the Panthers a big break on thier next possession.  The Red Devils would snap a punt over the head of the punter.  The Panthers would take possession at the 8-yard line.  Tuterow would tack his second touchdown on the board one play later and the Panthers would take the lead 14-7.

The Panthers would hold once again on the next possession.  The offense now had it going.  Eastbrook marched down the field where Nathan Felver would connect with Jimmy Michael for a 6-yard touchdown pass and a 21-7 lead.

The Red Devils would not give up.  Their next possession would end with a touchdown closing the score to 21-14.

The two teams would exchange possessions the rest of the way ending the game at 21-14.

The Panthers will next play at home against Western.  This is a match-up from a hotly contested game from early in the season.  Western gave the Panthers their only loss of the season.  Game time is set for 7:00.
