Panthers Extinguish Starfires in Season Opener
August 19th 2005 - The Panthers got their season off to a good start Friday with a 31-21 victory over the host, South Adams Starfires. After losing 4 starting linemen off the 2004 State runner-up team to graduation, the Panthers had there work cut out for them in the off-season. The result was a young and inexperienced line that many thought would not prevail. After the game against the Starfires, however, all that talk was put to rest. The young men dug into the trenches and opened holes all night long for the panther running backs to run through. That was all they needed tough to amass 260 total yards.

Poe rushed six times for 91 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 88 yards and two scores. Jason Soultz only rushed 3 times for 6 yards but posted 2 scores on the board for the Panthers. Adam Short and Blake Barajas also ran well for the Panthers but their stats are unavailable.

The Panthers are 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the CIC. Eastbrook's next game will be this comming Friday (August 26) at Home. Kickoff will start at 7:30.
