Eastbrook would slowly march the ball down to the 4 yard line before a fumble would give the ball over to the Lions. The teams would exchange punts the rest of the half and go to the lockerroom 14-7. The second half would turn into the Jeremy Porter-Jones show for the Panthers and an offensive showdown for both teams. Eastbrook would take the ball to start the second half. Porter-Jones would carry the ball all 5 plays covering 62 yards. The final carry would be from 5 yards out and give the Panthers a 20-7 lead. Leo would respond behind their workhorse Kacsor. Eastbrook would take possession with just under 7 minutes left in the ball game. The drive would start off badly a holding call would stick the Panthers in 3rd and 17. Day would find his big tight end Boone Searles over the middle for 16 yards setting up in 4th and 1. The Panthers would set up to go for it but Leo would jump into the neutral zone giving the Panthers a first down. Eastbrook would never look back. The Panthers would take just over 5 minutes off the clock. Micah Brooks 22 yard pass reception would be the big play in the drive before Porter-Jones would finish the scoring giving the Panthers a 33-26 lead. Leo would not go quietly though. A couple of quick plays would put the Lions into Eastbrook territory. Porter-Jones would end the drive diving in front of and intercepting a pass to seal the victory. The Panthers had many contribute to the offense. Colton Benedict lead the way with 142 yards. He was closely followed by Porter-Jones with 135 yards mostly in the second half. Searles was the leading receiver with 2 catches for 45 yards. The win puts the Panthers in the sectional semi-finals against another tough team. Eastbrook will play Harding (6-4) at home. The Hawks and Panthers have played each other once before in. Harding ended Eastbrook’s season in the regional 15-7 on their way to the state finals in 2003. Don’t let the 6-4 record fool you as Harding plays in a very tough conference and will come to town with Ohio State recruit Rod Smith. Game time will be 7:00.
