Eastbrook Takes Down Eagles

The Panther moved to 2-0 in the young conference season with a 55-6 victory over the Frankton Eagles.  Eastbrook got off to another great first half start putting up 42 points.

Max Widmyer put the first Panther score up on a short run.  It would be the first of three scores for him on the night.  The score was set up by a by a long kick return by Jeremy Porter-Jones.

Colton Benedict would put the next score on the board racing in from 17 yards out.  That score was set up on a fumble recovery by Kyle Graves.

Widmyer would close the first quarter out with a 31 yard run and a 21-0 lead.

Eastbrook’s defense was tough enough that they never started a drive in the first quarter from their territory. 

Benedict would add his second score before Tanner Day would find Widmyer for the loan passing touchdown of the game.

Benedict would add one more before the half to make the score 42-0.

The first team would only see one more series in the second half.  Benedict would rush for his 4th touchdown of the night.

Frankton put their score on the board late in the third quarter after a long punt return set them up with good field position.  Aaron Delong scored the touchdown for the Eagles.

Eastbrook’s final score would come midway through the 4th quarter when Austin Loftis plowed home from 8 yards out and a final score of 55-6.

Porter-Jones did not score but his hard running inside set up the counter and outside plays for his backfield mates.  Porter-Jones rushed for 121 yards followed closely by Benedict with 113.  All together 11 Panther ball carriers accounted for 473 yards rushing.  Add to that Day’s 41 yards passing it put the Panther offense over 500 total yards for the night.

Defensively the Panthers were led by Jackson Bratcher, Jordan Hatfield, and Gavin Pearson.  Each had 5 tackles.  The Panthers totaled 7 sacks led by Matt Shokwiler with 3 and Hatfield with 2.  The Panthers also had 12 tackles for loss.

The win keeps the Panthers in first place in the CIC tied at 2-0 with Madison-Grant. 

The Panther will next play at home against 0-4 Alexandria.  Game time is set at 7:00.
