Eastbrook defeats Bruins
|
|
September 25th 2009 - Eastbrook rolled to a 49-0 victory over Blackford to move to 6-0 on the season. The Panthers took a little time to get rolling in this game. Blackford did a great job managing the clock and using their ground game in the first couple of possessions to keep it away from the high powered Panther offense. Jeremy Porter-Jones got the scoring started off midway through the first quarter. It would be the first of 3 touchdowns on the night on just 5 carries. The flood gates would open in the 2nd quarter. Colton Benedict added the first of his 3 touchdowns. The Panthers would put up 4 scores in a span of 6:30 minutes. After the defense held Blackford to a three and out Porter-Jones put his second touchdown up to make the score 21-0. Benedict would add his second touchdown after an onside kick was recovered in Blackford territory. The next kickoff would see the Panthers force a fumble on the 32 yard line. One play later Benedict would find the endzone again to make the score 35-0 at the half. Eastbrook would finish off Blackford quickly to start the third quarter. Tanner Day would take the first play of the second half 73 yards on an option keeper to score. The final score would come on the next possession from Porter-Jones from 53 yards out and a final score of 49-0. The Panther offense rushed for over 300 yards on the night. Six people carried the ball for more than 25 yards. On a wet soggy field the Panthers did not put the ball on the ground either. The defense was the big story for the night. The Panthers collected three turnovers and held the Bruins to just 29 total yards. The usual suspects led the Panther defense. Bratcher and Hemmick Each had 6 tackles but Bryce Marsee led the Panthers on the night with 10 stops. The Panthers moved to 6-0 on the season and 4-0 in the CIC. They will next play at Elwood. |
