|
September 18th 2009 - Eastbrook moved to 5-0 at the midpoint of the season with a 69-14 win over Alexandria. The Panther offense has gotten into a grove lately. The past two weeks have seen the Panthers put up over a 1000 yards of offense, 800 of the yards coming on the ground. The ground game dominated the action this week but the Panthers also showed and efficient passing game that set up some scores. Eastbrook put the game away early with 28 first quarter points. Colton Benedict put the first touchdown up. Max Widmyer would add the next touchdown 3 minutes later. Jeremy Porter-Jones would add the next two touchdowns part of a three touchdown 100 yard performance from him. Tanner Day would put a touchdown in the endzone on the ground and connect with Widmyer just before the half for the only passing touchdown from the Panthers. Gavin Pearson seeing his first action of the year at fullback put his first touchdown up in the third quarter and Conner Pannell would finish the scoring off in the fourth quarter for a final of 69-14. The first defense played a good ball game forcing three interceptions. Jeremiah Carder and Boone Searles had one while Jordan Hatfield had the third from his defensive tackle position jumping in front of a screen play. Searles, Jackson Bratcher, and Caleb Hemmick led the defense with 7 tackles each. Hemmick also had two sacks. The Panthers sit a top the CIC tied with Madison-Grant with a 3-0 record. Eastbrook will travel this week to meet an improving Blackford team. Blackford is 2-3 on the season 2-1 in the conference. They are coming off a 47-7 win over Elwood. |
