Panthers Beat Argylls

September 30th 2011 - Eastbrook won the first of three straight Grant county games with a 35-6 win over Madison-Grant. The Panthers did a great job of refocusing their energies after receiving the news this week about 3 forfeits.
The Panthers would strike first with a solid drive. Jacob Singer put the Panthers up 3-0 on a 22 yard field goal, the first of his career.
Eastbrook would strike again in the first quarter. This time Gavin Pearson would tote the load from 34 yards out. A missed extra point would take the lead to 9-0.
Austin Simison would complete the scoring in the first half with a 6 yard run around the left end and a 15-0 halftime lead.
Eastbrook would increase their lead to 22 points. Heath Brooksher would score from 10 yards.
Madison-Grant would get their loan score from Cedric Pressley to close the gap to 22-6.
Jacob Singer would answer the Madison-Grant score with one of his own down the visitor’s sideline from 47 yards. This would take the score to 28-6.
Gavin Pearson would finish the scoring with his second touchdown. This one coming from just 1 yard out and the final of 35-6.
Pearson led the offense with 161 yards and 2 scores. He creeps closer each week to break a long standing record for rushing yards in a season. Singer added 114 yards to the offense. The Panthers almost broke the 400 yard rushing mark with 399 for the night.
Defensively the Panthers played well against a team that had put up some good numbers in recent weeks. The Panthers held the Argyll offense to about 150 yards of total offense.
Leading the way for the Panthers was Shaun Dmyszeqicz with 9 tackles. Simison, Pearson, and Nathan Holloway each added 8 stops.
The Panthers are now 4-3 on the season and will next play the undefeated Mississinewa Indians. Game time is 7:00.
