| Panthers Beat Rival | |||
The Panthers claimed the conference milk can back with a 55-7 defeat of rival Oak Hill. The Panthers scored early and often in erasing the memory of last year's loss. The Panther offense got on the board less than 4 minutes into the game. Colton Benedict put the first score up after a fumble gave the Panthers great field position deep in Oak Hill territory. The Panthers would put up another touchdown midway through the quarter. Tanner Day would connect with Bryce Marsee to make the score 14-0. The flood gates would open in the second quarter as the Panthers would put up 34 points in the quarter. Jeremy Porter-Jones would get it started carrying the mail in from 6 yards out and a 21-0 lead. The Panthers would continue their string of special teams scores next. Max Widmyer would add another score from 85 yards away for a 28-0 lead. Day would connect on his second touchdown pass this time to Boone Searles from 3 yards out and a 35-0 lead. Porter-Jones would chalk one up for the defense next. He would step in front of a pass and run it back for a score and a 42-0 lead. Eastbrook had played a great first half only punting twice and causing 4 first half turnovers. The starters would only see one more series in the second half. Benedict would end a 4 play drive with a 57 yard run to the endzone. Oak Hill would put their loan score on the board late in the third quarter. Mitch Slaughter would turn a short completion into a 73-yard score and a final score of 55-7. The defense played one of its best games of the year holding Oak Hill to under 130 yards. Jackson Bratcher spent most of the night causing havoc in the backfield. He lead the defense with 11 tackles 5 of which were for a loss and 1 sack. Widmyer, Porter-Jones and Poe each recorded and interception while Matt Shonkwiler and Caleb Hemmick each recovered fumbles. The Panthers are now 3-0 and will travel next to Frankton. Frankton is 1-2 on the season recording their first victory last week against Elwood 21-6. The Eagles are one of 4 teams tied at the top of the conference at 1-0. | |||
