Panthers Down Rival Oak Hill
October 14th 2011 - Eastbrook finished the 2011 regular season with 42-14 victory over visiting Oak Hill. The Panthers honored their 7 man senior class with a quick start on senior night. Eastbrook scored all 42 points in the first half before allowing the younger players to finish the game. Jacob Singer started the night off finding Gavin Pearson in the flat for a 32 yard catch and run and a 7-0 score. Pearson would get the second of his scores next from 9 yards out making the score 14-0. Singer would finish the first quarter on a 39 yard keeper and a 21-0 lead after the first quarter. Pearson would put the Panthers up 28-0 early in the second quarter. Oak Hill would close the gap on a Durkes to McDivitt pass. Austin Simison would take the lead to 35-7 next before Gavin Pearson would put his name in the Eastbrook record book. His 38 yard touchdown run would push the score to 42-7 and give him the single season rushing record. He broke coach Chad Luthy’s record that had been held since the 1999 season. Gavin now has over 1500 yards for the season. Oak Hill would put one more on the board in the fourth quarter for the final score of 42-14. Eastbrook’s defense did a great job taking away the running game of Oak Hill. They held the Golden Eagles to 67 yards on the ground. They also forced a fumble and picked on pass. Simison had his best game statistically of the year with 7 tackles and the lone interception. Chandler Horn would also have 7 tackles on the night. The Panthers end the season with a 6-3 record and a third place finish in the CIC. They will move to sectional play next with a game against Yorktown. The game will be played at Eastbrook with a start time of 7:00.
