Panthers Put Out Starfires
August 20th 2010 -

Eastbrook got their 2010 season off and running with a 37-13 win over South Adams.  The last meeting between the two schools looked as if it might be a run away early.

The Panthers jumped to a lead early be scoring on their first two possessions of the game.  The first score came when Tanner Day connected with Jody Gibbs from 25 yards.  The second score came on another pass play.  Cale Korporal hauled in a great grab off of a deflection to put Eastbrook up 13-0.

The Starfires would start a comeback after that.  Starting on the 20 yard line South Adams would march down the field to close the gap to 13-7.  The Starfires would set up the next score off a long punt return which would give them possession at the 7 yard line.  Taylor Lefever would connect with Dustin Wanner to tie the score at 13.

The Panthers would take the momentum back just before the half.  Day would sneak the ball in to give the Panthers a 20-13 lead at the half.

The second half was all Eastbrook.  Eastbrook put two touchdowns on the board in their first two possessions to end any hope of an upset.  Jackson Bratcher put his first score of the season up from two yards out for a 27-13 lead.  Tanner Day plunged in on another sneak to put the Panthers up 34-13.

The Panther defense would take care of the rest holding the Starfires to just 63 second half yards.  Bratcher and Searles led the defense with 8 tackles each.  Bratcher also had a fumble recovery, a sack, and two tackles for loss.  Searles had a sack and a tackle for loss also.

The scoring was rounded out in the fourth quarter on a 35 yard field goal from Day and a final score of 37-13.

The Panthers are now 1-0.  Eastbrook will round out the non-conference schedule by traveling to Western next week.
