Panthers Rout Indians

October 7th 2011 - The challenge was laid down and the Panthers answered with a convincing 63-13 win over unbeaten Mississinewa. The game started out with a bang. Mac Zoda forced a fumble on the opening kickoff that was scooped up by Chandler Horn and run in for a 7-0 lead. The scoring would happen frequently in the first half. Jacob Singer and Gavin Pearson would carry the load in the first half. Pearson would score on runs of 1, 75, and 46 yards in the first half. Singer would score from 13 yards and find Austin Simison from 23 yards for the other score. The only blemish in the first half would come just before halftime. A reverse pass would set up Mississinewa for a short touchdown run. The score at the half was 42-6. The Indians momentum would be shot down right after half. Homecoming King Gavin Pearson would take the second half kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. Pearson and Singer would each add one more in the third quarter before the JV would take over. Eastbrook defense would play a stellar game. They held the Indians to negative rushing yards in the first half and only gave up 111 for the game. Ninety-five of those yards came on one carry in the fourth quarter. The Panthers also grabbed two interceptions. Kyle Martin led the way with 7 tackles. He was followed closely by Nathan Holloway and Tom Roush with 6 each. Singer and Shaun Dymszewicz hauled in the two interceptions. The Panthers are now 5-3 overall with one game to play. Next up is Oak Hill. Game time is 7:00. |
