Panthers defeat Argylls
October 1st 2010 -

In a game to decide the leader in the conference championship race Eastbrook ended all hope in the first half.  The Panthers raced out to a 31-0 half time lead in route to defeating Madison-Grant 51-7 and claiming sole possession of first place in the CIC.

Tanner Day and Colton Benedict led the Panther offense scoring all 31 first half points.  Day got the scoring going with a 25 yard field goal.

Benedict would light the scoreboard 3 times in the second quarter.  Two of the scores would come on the ground from 3 and 6 yards out.

Day would add the next score on a short option keeper to push the lead to 24-0.

Day and Benedict would hook up for the last score of the quarter.  Benedict would take a screen pass 37 yards for the half time score of 31-0.

Day would come out hot again in the second half finding Max Widmyer in the back of the end zone for a 23 yard score.  Day set the score up escaping from the Argyll pass rush before finding Widmyer in the end zone.

Benedict would finish his night off from 17 yards with his 4th touchdown of the night.

The scoring would be finished in the fourth quarter on a 35 yard run by Gavin Pearson making the final 51-7.

After an early adjustment the Panther defense put together another stellar evening.  The Thompson boys, Chase and Cody, lead the team with 10 tackles each totaling 7 tackles for loss between them.  Pearson followed them up with 7 tackles and 2 sacks.

The Panthers stand at 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in the conference.  They will next play at Mississinewa.
