Panthers tie a record
September 20th 2008 -
A fun week playing on a big stage ended with a bang as Eastbrook tied a record by scoring 71 points on the way to defeating Alexandria 71-7.  The CIC held the first conference day at Ball State's new facility.  It was a great week for all the players.

Eastbrook came out of the lockeroom with a lot of intensity from the start.  The game was over before the first quarter ended.  The Panthers lite the scoreboard up 5 times in the first quarter.  Colton Benedict, Jacob Holloway, and Dereck Case each had a rushing touchdown in the first quarter.  Case would finish the quarter with touchdown passes to Boone Searles and Bryce Marsee.

The Panther defense was outstanding in the first quarter.  Eastbrook force Alexandria into 4 three and outs out of 6 possessions.

Eastbrook showed no let up in the second quarter. Case would start the scoring on a short pass completion that Benedict turned in to a 20 yard touchdown.

Jeremy Porter-Jones would up the lead to 49-0 with and 11 yard run.

Max Widmeyer would finish the offensive effort for the first half with a 53 yard run and a 56-0 lead.

The finishing touches for the first team would be completed when Porter-Jones scooped up a fumble and took it to the endzone and a halftime score of 63-0.

The second half would belong to the second team.  The second team did a nice job on offense but could not dent the scoreboard after threatening several times.

Eastbrook's final score would come from the freshman.  Billy Brewer scored on a 47 yard run to finish off the 71-7 victory.

The Panthers put together a complete game.  It may look like a great game offensively but they were set up many times by good defense and solid special teams play.

Eastbrook will finally get a couple of home games in a row.  This week will feature a game against Blackford who is undefeated in the conference.  If the Panthers want a chance at sharing the conference this is a must win game.
