September 9th 2011 - The Panthers moved to 4-0 with a 50-25 victory over Alexandria. Jacob Singer would star for the Panthers adding the passing game to his running game. Singer would go for 4 touchdowns two in the air and two on the ground. Eastbrook got the ball rolling early with a Singer to Heath Brooksher 28 yard pass and a 7-0 lead. Eastbrook’s next possession Singer would run in a nifty option keeper to make the score 13-0. The second quarter would see the Panthers go up 21-0. Singer would find AJ Alexander wide open off a play fake for a 26 yard score. Gavin Pearson would add the conversion. Alexandria would seize some momentum in the second quarter. A Randi Kirkland to Josh Blanton touchdown pass would bring the Tigers to within 15. Singer would help the Panthers stem the tide with a 65 yard dash to the endzone. Alexandria would put one more score in the board as time ran out in the first half. The score at the half would be 28-12. Eastbrook would put the game away completely in the 3rd quarter. Brooksher would cap the first drive from 2 yards out for his second touchdown of the evening. Gavin Pearson would take the score to 43-12 on the next series. Austin Simison would punch in the last score for the final points for the Panthers. Alexandria would go on to score two more times in the fourth quarter to make the final 50-25. The rushing attack for the Panthers was the story once again. Singer rushed for just under 146 while Pearson just missed 100 yards and Brooksher added his highest total of the season with 88. Singer also completed all 4 of his passes for 71 yards. The defense was led by sophomore Kyle Martin. Martin had 13 stops with 2 for loss. He also had two pass break-ups. Tom Roush was next with 10 tackles a sack and a tackle for loss. Singer, Zach Burton, and Shawn Dymszewicz each added an interception. The Panthers will move on to play Blackford this week. The Bruins are 0-4 coming off a loss to Elwood last week. Game time is 7:00.
