Turnovers Lead Panthers to Victory

The Panthers opened up sectional play with a solid victory over Bellmont 42-13.  The story of the game was turnovers.  The Panthers forced 4 turnovers while only giving it back once.

Eastbrook opened the scoring after forcing an early fumble.  Tanner Day would take an option keeper in from the 7 yard line for a 7-0 score.

The Panthers would put another score on the board in the first.  Max Widmeyer would score from 29 yards out to make the score 14-0. 

Eastbrook would put the game away in the second quarter.  Day found an open Boone Searles for a 31 yard score early in the quarter.

Day and Jody Gibbs would connect two more time before the half.  The first one would come from 27 yards out.  The next touchdown would be set up as the Panthers forced a fumble with just a minute left in the half.  Day would find Gibbs for 33 yards down the sideline to make the score 35-0 at the half.

Eastbrook would put its final score up in the third quarter.  Gavin Pearson would finish off a drive with a 2 yard plunge and a 42-0 lead. 

The Panther defense played well before giving way in the fourth quarter to the JV.  The 4 turnovers set the Panthers offense up with good scoring opportunities.  The Panthers held a very good back in control until the fourth quarter.

Searles and Cody Thompson led the defense with 12 tackles each on the evening.  Gavin Pearson added 9 from his middle linebacker spot.

The Panthers move on two the second round to face a tough and speedy Harding team that defeated Concordia 38-0.  The game is at Eastbrook.
