Eastbrook Cruises Past Elwood

Eastbrook moved to 6-0 and 4-0 in conference play with a 62-7 victory over Elwood.

A slow first quarter turned into an second quarter point explosion for Eastbrook.  Tanner Day kicked off what would turn into his best game by starting the scoring with an 8 yard run late in the first quarter.  Colton Benedict would follow that up with his own 8 yard run to make the score 14-0 at the end of one.

The second quarter would see the Panthers go into overdrive.  Day would connect on three touchdown passes.  Day and Max Widmeyer would connect from 33 yards on the first.  Day would connect with Jody Gibbs from 63 yards for the second and finally with Benedict from 55 yards for the third.  Benedict would also add another 8 yard run to the total.

The play of the quarter came from the Thompson twins.  Cody Thompson would engulf the quarterback on an option play causing a fumble which brother Chase would pick up and return 60 yards for a touchdown.

The Panthers would tack two more scores on in the second half.  One would come from the first punt of the half.  Gavin Pearson would make a dazzling return faking out many defenders before scooting into the endzone. 

Heath Brooksher would finish the scoring off on a 20 yard jaunt for the final points for Eastbrook.

Eastbrook would amass over 500 yards of total offense with a balanced attack.  Day accumulated just over 200 yards of passing while 13 different backs accumulated over 300 yards on the ground.

Defensively the Panthers were led be Gavin Pearson with 10 tackles and 1 for loss.  The Thompson twins came in next Cody had 9 tackles and 3 for loss.  Brother Chase had 7 tackles and of course the big touchdown.  Combined on the night the defense had 12 tackles for loss.

The Panthers will end their season with the three county rivals.  The first journey will be two Madison-Grant who is 5-1 and playing great football.  This game will be for first place in the conference.
