August 26th 2005 - The fans came prepared to view a good game between county rivals Eastbrook and Madison-Grant. What the fans got was nothing short of what some are was the best game Madison-Grant struck first scoring on a run by Argyll running back Derek Stitt. Eastbrook responded by scoring on a Zach Tuterow QB sneak from the 2-yard line. Madison-Grant wasn’t out of it yet however, with time expired on the game clock in the first half, Argyll quarterback Shane Carey threw a pass up for grabs and Jossh Schultz came down with it in the end zone on a questionable call. Eastbrook came out in the second-half fired up and ready to go. They didn’t let the Argyles sniff the end zone while posting 18 second half points themselves. Eastbrook seem to be in control of they game when they drove the field and put the ball in the end zone with just over 1:30 left in the game. Madison-Grant then stopped the two-point conversion forcing the Panthers to attempt an onside kick. Eastbrook’s Clay Jones recovered the kick giving a breath of life back to the Panthers. As if that wasn’t enough, they faced a 4th and 15 and out of field goal range that would give them the lead. The screen pass from Tuterow to Poe was magical and the Panthers were on their way to the end zone once again. This time Eastbrook scored with just 35.5 seconds on a pass to Burnett. The Panthers then completed the two-point conversion. Eastbrook closed the deal on defense by issuing 3 sacks on the argyles last 4 plays, the last one which resulted in a safety. All of those sacks were by sophomore defensive end, Kevin Fenstermaker. The Panthers will take on the Mississenewa Indians at home next Friday night. The kickoff will be at 7:00. The Panthers will be playing for a county championship. |
